Project Overview
Lysts app that lets you create wishlists of items or gifts you'll like to get and share your wishlist with friends. They always know what to get you and you always know what to get them.
Whats the problem are we trying to solve here?
The idea was not to go big, but create a simple ecosystem for users where they can create gift wishlists or registers and share with anyone the like, depending on the occasion.
For a task as simple as sending a thank you gift or a way o show appreciation, Lysts provides a simple interface to solve this
What the team did
This was a project I worked on from start to finish. From user research, to visual design and prototyping, to development with the React Native framework, and finally publishing on app stores.
Key Features —
Create a Wishlist
Create wishlists for your parties, events, holidays and celebrations. Set stores where lyst items can be found and if items should be marked automatically once purchased.
Share with Friends
Share your wishlist code and links with friends, guests or Santa 🎅? User don't need to create accounts on the app to view your lysts.
Check off Lyst Items
Lets purchased list items be mark automatically or manually and let your friends know you have an item when you check it off.
Reflections
Challenges
- Due to the high volume of vectors used, app bundle had to be optimized for quicker rendering and smaller app size
- Bundling the app for IOS brought up issues currently (as at 2022) discussed in the react native community
- Publishing to the Play Store was easy but the app had to be temporarily removed due to naming issues with an existing app "Lyst"
Improvements
- We require discussions with the 'Lyst' team finalize on the appropriate naming on the play store
- Explore other ways on rendering high quality images but with less issues in size and rendering on RN
The results from the research and analysis done were finally coming together and the final visual design and high fidelity prototyping of the application were worked on.
